International Exhibition of Ukrainian Artists "Between Space and Home" in Varna
Varna, Bulgaria – On September 11, 2025, the grand opening of the international exhibition "Between Space and Home" successfully took place at the "Space of Opportunities" gallery. This significant project, curated by Olena Samoilova, a cultural project curator and representative of Creative Union +44 (England), brought together works by 15 Ukrainian artists whose creative work is currently unfolding in England, Bulgaria, and Ukraine.
A Theme Uniting Spaces and Souls
The "Between Space and Home" exhibition was dedicated to the profound and relevant theme of searching for home and inner space in an ever-changing world. For many artists forced to leave their homeland, art has become not only a means of self-expression but also an anchor, allowing them to maintain a connection with their roots, adapt to new realities, and foster cultural dialogue. This was especially important in the context of contemporary global changes, where geography and life circumstances could change dramatically, but art remained an unwavering support and a means of adaptation.
Masters of Various Directions
The exhibition featured works by members of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, art university lecturers, as well as recognized masters of painting, graphics, sculpture, and photography. Viewers were able to witness a rich variety of styles and techniques — from classical painting to contemporary graphics, from artistic photography to experimental plastics. Each work represented a personal story of the artist, telling how, while away from their homeland, one can continue to create and maintain cultural dialogue.

Nurturing New Talent
Mariia Harkusha
Maria Harkusha is a young artist who lives and works in London. Combining academic training with her own creative exploration, she develops an individual artistic language that merges technical mastery with contemporary visual sensitivity.
Maria’s education began in Ukraine, where she studied at the Odessa College of Design and later at the Kyiv Academy of Arts. There she received a solid foundation in academic drawing, composition, and the plasticity of form. This training became the basis for her further artistic experimentation and international development.
Relocating to London opened new opportunities and contexts for her practice. Here, Maria continues to develop her work, focusing on imagery, material and symbolism, while also teaching academic drawing and sharing her knowledge with emerging artists and beginners.
Harkusha’s works reflect a dialogue between the Ukrainian art school and contemporary European tendencies. She works across various techniques, including sculpture and experimental materials, which allow her to create expressive imagery and conceptual solutions.
Maria represents a generation of Ukrainian artists contributing to cultural integration and the formation of an international artistic dialogue.
